Yameen's residence and DhiTV subject to unsuccessful attack

The residence of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) candidate Abdulla Yameen’s, G. Dhoovehi, and local TV station DhiTV have been subjected to an unsucessful attacked late Friday night.

Police said masked men on motorcycles threw a flammable bottle resembling a petrol bomb at DhiTV around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. They said the bottled had ricocheted off a window and landed near parked motorcycles, but did not explode.

The attempt to attack Yameen’s residence G. Dhoovehi took place around 1:15 a.m. Masked men, also on motorcycles, hurled a similar object at the candidate’s house, but was aoon extinguished by security men on guard outside the house.

Police Serious and Organized Crime Department has launched an investigation and are trying to hunt down the individuals behind the attack.
