Maafaru, Kudahuvadhoo airport projects awarded to two companies

The government has awarded projects to two companies, to develop and operate airports in the islands of Noonu Maafaru and Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo.

This is part of the efforts by the government to strengthen the transport system and expand tourism in the country.

The airport development project in Maafaru was awarded to Millennium Capital Management, while the one in Kudahuvadhoo was awarded to Riol Investment Private Limited.

Director of Regional Airports Saamee Ageel told Sun Online that both projects are for 25 years, and that the companies will also be given one island each for 50 years, for resort development.

“The projects to develop and operate airports in Maafaru and Kudahuvadhoo have been awarded to two companies for 25 years, and to subsidise their costs, they will be given two uninhabited islands for 50 years to develop resorts,” he said.
