Former Attorney General Husnu Al Suood, who joined Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) about a month ago, has left the party.
Suood tweeted today that he has withdrawn his application to become a member of MDP as the Elections Commission (EC) needs his assistance.
I have withdrawn my application to become a member of MDP as EC badly needs my assistance.

Suood joined MDP in September when he was suspended by the Supreme Court for criticising a court decision. He represented the Elections Commission in the case filed by Jumhooree Party requesting to annul the result of the first round of the presidential election.
Suood has confirmed to Sun Online that he has left MDP.
Yesterday, Suood criticised the recent amendments proposed to the law by MDP to protect their own interests.
He tweeted, “At this rate, we should be thankful if they don’t nullify the Penal Code and the Drug Act.”
