Letter of Appointment presented to seven judges

Letters of Appointment have been presented to seven judges appointed to three superior courts.

The oath was administered by Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef and the letters of appointment were presented to the seven judges by the chief guest, Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain, at a ceremony held at Judicial Service Commission (JSC) this evening.

The two judges appointed to Criminal court are Shujau Usman and Abdulla Nasheed.

Farhad Rasheed was appointed to the Civil Court, while Hassan Shafeeu, Mohamed Sameer and Ibrahim Ali were appointed to the Family Court.

Until now, Hassan Shafeeu held the post of Registrar at Family Court.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain advised the judges that despite threats, they should not hesitate in their efforts to uphold the rule of law.

He said that that the large number of pending cases cannot be reduced only by increasing the number of judges, and urged judges to work hard.

President of JSC Adam Mohamed Abdulla also addressed the newly-appointed judges at today’s ceremony.
