President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has called on the Elections Commission to hold the presidential election on Saturday coming next, 26 October.

In a press statement published by the President’s Office, the President expressed concern that the presidential election could not be held as scheduled and reiterated his commitment to holding a free, fair, and inclusive election.

“The President is fully committed to holding a free, fair, and inclusive election, where none of the candidates boycott it,” the statement read.
