Re-registration forms still being processed, says EC

Elections Commission (EC) has said that they have not finished processing all re-registration forms, albeit the commission’s prediction to finish the process on Wednesday night.

An official from EC told Sun Online today that the commission still has a large quantity of re-registration forms unprocessed. The official did not say the exact amount of unprocessed forms.

In a press conference on Wednesday evening, EC Member Ali Mohamed Manik said that 56,240 forms were processed, with about 10,000 forms remaining.

EC president Fuad Thaufeeq said during the same press conference that they are trying to have the voters’ list printed by Thursday morning. The candidates, as per the Supreme Court guidelines, must approve the list.

The deadline for filing complaints regarding re-registration expired at 2:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Political parties have raised concern over the number of tasks the EC must complete, with about 48 hours left for the elections.
