Eight council members of Gaumee Itthihad Party (GIP) have decided to support Jumhooree Coalition.
The eight council members joined a press conference held by Jumhooree Coalition in Maafannu Kunooz this afternoon.
Speaking at the press conference, GIP council member, Immigration Controller Dr Mohamed Ali said that given the current situation, efforts have to be made to save the country.
“The reason behind the decision to support Jumhooree Coalition is, considering the current situation, we know that God willing, we will save the country through this coalition,” he said.
GIP council member, Minister of State for Education Aminath Ali also said that Jumhooree Coalition is the coalition that has the capability to save the country.
GIP council member, Media Secretary at the President’s Office Masood Imad said that it is time to stop complaining about ‘30 years’, and that now is the time to stand up against the efforts to introduce other religions in the Maldives.
Speaking at the press conference, presidential candidate of Jumhooree Party (JP) Gasim Ibrahim thanked the council members of GIP for their decision to back Jumhooree Coalition.
Gasim also welcomed Leader of GIP, President Dr Mohamed Waheed’s decision to not support any presidential candidate.
