20,000 re-registration forms processed, says EC

Elections Commission (EC) has said that 20,000 re-registration forms have been processed so far, for the upcoming rerun of the presidential election.

Re-registration is required for voters who wish to vote from a location other than their permanent addresses. The 24-hour re-registration period expired at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

EC’s Secretary General Asim Abdul Sattar told Sun today that the commission is processing the re-registration forms without disruption. He said that the commission will address issues with re-registration forms promptly, as required.

Sun is aware that a over 7000 tokens were issued for submission of re-registration forms, with that over 3000 token pending by noon on Sunday.

Department of National Registration (DNR) has advised the public to inform the department of any discrepancy identified between an individual’s name on the voters’ list and their National Identification cards.
