Police discover empty liquor containers and weapons behind Darubaaruge

The Maldives Police Service has stated that they had found some emptied liquor bottles and weapons kept behind Darubaaruge.

A Police media official said that the items were found last night, around 11:15 pm, and said that the police were already investigating the matter.

The media official said that no one had been arrested over the issue.

Among the stuff found at the place, there was a knife.

Reports have claimed that activists of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) gathered at the Victory Square have been drinking while stationed there and organizing violence against their opponents and the police. Darubaaruge, which is under the administrative authority of the Malé City Council which has an all-MDP membership, has been given to MDP for their “opposition” activities against the government.
