Porto beats Benfica 3-2, goes top in Portugal

LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Brazilian defender Maicon scored four minutes from the end to give Porto a 3-2 win over 10-man Benfica on Friday, opening a three-point lead for the defending champion in the Portuguese league.

Hulk put Porto ahead with a blistering left-foot shot in the seventh minute, then Cardozo picked up a loose ball and equalized from close range just before halftime.

Cardozo netted his second in the 48th before substitute James Rodriguez leveled for Porto on the break in the 64th.

Defender Emerson was shown his second yellow card and sent off in the 76th. Maicon headed in the winner.

Third-placed Braga, six points behind Porto, plays at Nacional on Saturday.
