The National Security Council has held a meeting today to discuss the current situation of the country.
Media Secretary of the President’s Office Masood Imad told Sun Online that the council, chaired by President Dr Mohamed Waheed, discussed a paper on an analysis of the current situation of the country.
He said that the meeting was attended by senior officials of the security forces, the Minister of Defence, and the Minister of Home Affairs.
“This meeting is held on a regular basis. But today, discussions took place regarding the arson attack on Raajje TV and other issues related to national security. The police have assured that the situation will be controlled. MNDF is also on alert,” said Masood Imad.
He said that the officials present at today’s meeting assured that the situation will be controlled, and not be allowed to get worse.
Protests are being held on the streets of Male’ every night following the postponement of the second round of the presidential election. Violence, such as people’s property being torched and damaged, has also increased lately.
