Several members of Adhaalath, Salaf are with us: Gayyoom

President of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), former president Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has said that several members of Adhaalath Party and Jamiyyathu Salaf, support the presidential candidate of PPM.

Gayyoom made this remark while speaking at a rally organised by PPM in Fuvahmulah last night.

He said that PPM is currently working with Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), as well as several other political parties and public groups.

“Several members of DRP [Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party] are also working with us. In addition, I have been informed that Jamiyyathu Salaf supports our ideas, and are willing to work with us,” he said.

He said that several people who do not belong to any party also support Yameen, and thanked everyone for their efforts towards the betterment of the nation.

Gayyoom said that PPM plans to establish a government according to its ideologies, in which many parties are represented. He said that Jumhooree Party is also contributing to the ongoing efforts in this regard.

He said that a vote is the most ‘powerful weapon’ in a democracy, and urged people to use this weapon in a manner that would not threaten the country’s independence, sovereignty and religion.

He said that the parties working against Yameen, gain support by misleading the public.

Gayyoom thanked the large number of PPM supporters that joined the PPM-MDA rally in Fuvahmulah last night.
