There is no damage for the opposition says Yamin

Leader of Peoples Alliance (PA), Hon. Abdulla Yamin said that they do not intend to support the government, even though they have being out of the opposition coalition. He also said that there is no damage for the opposition even though PA is out of DR-PA coalition.

DRP leader Hon. Ahmed Thasmeen Ali said that PA should be responsible for any damage for the opposition caused due to the weakening of the coalition. Answering to this Hon. Yamin said on DhiTv last night that “responsibility” is a very common word used in the political platform, and it is vital to know what is meant by when they say “responsibility”.

“The issue of responsibility should be raised when there is damage by doing something or by not doing something. PA did not leave the coalition to support MDP. PA left the coalition because we have the confidence that we can do a lot to make the government responsible, with a new opposition leadership. So we don’t see any damage here.” Said Hon. Yamin. “There is no doubt. There is no damage for opposition, even though we are not in the coalition, we will support DRP in order to make the government responsible.”

Yamin said that now also PA is following that. He also noted that even six months ago PA decided not to follow DRP whip line. But still without supporting the government, PA has voted 91% of its vote in favor of DRP.

“There will not be any weakness in opposition due to this. If there was a weakness, it happened during the peak of the coalition. When the GMR issue came up, there was a weakness. I was arrested. Qasim was arrested. Where was DRP? What were the difficulties faced by them? No one from DRP leadership was arrested. So if there was a weakness in the opposition that was when we had the majority and were unable to take necessary actions.”

Yamin said that even though there were bitter times in the past, still chances are there for DRP and PA coalition. He said that he is not a person with closed arms.

Hon. Yamin said when hewas asked whether PA and Z-Faction of DRP would form a coalition, that PA has been working with the Z-Faction of DRP for more than a year and it is possible to have an MOU between them.

“I don’t know how we can write an agreement between them. It is still a faction in DRP. But we are looking for that.” said Hon. Yamin.
