Jumhooree Party (JP) has filed a case in High Court, in an attempt to obtain documents related to alleged irregularities surrounding Saturday's presidential election.
Speaking to the press today, Deputy Leader of JP Ilham Ahmed announced that the case was filed in High Court at 8:00 a.m. today.
Ilham said that the case asks the court to issue an order to provide Jumhoory Coalition with some documents that have been used in the election.
He said that they are aware that three types of ballot papers were used in which, some papers had the JP candidate Gasim Ibrahim’s photo next to the candidate number, while others had the party logo.
He also accused that foreigners were allowed to vote in the election and that some foreigners had the ink mark on their fingers indicating a voter has cast his ballot. Investigations have determined that some foreigners had cast ballots, Ilham said.
The Jumhoory Coalition also alleges that more than 500 names of deceased individuals were included in the electoral register. The fact that some of the deceased individuals having been dead for more than 30 years is proof that it was deliberate, the Coalition said.
