The Maldives has won 8-2 against Bhutan in the Group B match at the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship, with yet another hat-trick from captain Ali Ashfag.
The match kicked off at 5:45 pm at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal, and Ali Fasir scored the first goal in the fifteenth minute.
Bhutan then scored two goals and took the lead, but Maldives scored again through a free kick taken by Mohamed Umair, just before the end of the first half.
Maldives showed better talent in the second half, and took the lead with a goal by Ashfag, who scored four goals in total in today’s match.
Ashfag also made a double hat-trick in the match against Sri Lanka two days ago. He has scored a total of ten goals in this championship.
The remaining two goals against Bhutan were scored by Sentey and Ali Umar.
After today’s match, Maldives is now in first place in Group B with six points and most number of goals, while Afghanistan is in second place also with six points.
Maldives will meet Afghanistan on Friday at 2:45 pm local time.
