Man arrested for raping 15-year-old and publishing videos, pictures

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man from Lhaviyani Kurendhoo for raping a 15-year-old girl, taking videos and photographs of the rape, and making them available to the public.

The man was arrested on Friday, 23rd August, police said.

The case was reported to the police by the Family and Children’s services branch in the atoll’s capital island, Naifaru.

Naifaru magistrate court has allowed 7 days for the detention of the suspect.

Two men were arrested in a similar incident on the 2nd of this month in Naifaru, accused of raping a 13-year-old girl and publishing photographs of the rape .
