The number of ballot boxes to be placed in resorts for the presidential election has been reduced to 40.
President of Elections Commission Fuad Thaufeeg said that the number of ballot boxes in resorts was brought down from 58 to 40 because the number of voters in some resorts was less than 50.
The Elections Commission has decided to place ballot boxes in resorts where the number of voters exceeds 50.
“We decided to place ballot boxes in several resorts after being told by the resort managements that enough people will register to vote from those resorts. But some resort employees registered to vote from their islands or Male’, so some resorts failed to have enough voters,” he said.
The number of people eligible to vote in this presidential election is 239, 593.
