Generator catches fire in Dhidhdhoo power station

A generator in the power station in Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo has been completely damaged after catching fire earlier today.

The incident took place at around 2:00 pm.

The 300-kilowatt generator was one of the four generators used to provide electricity in the island. A power outage was imposed following the fire, which was extinguished within a short period of time.

Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Faroog Mohamed Hassan said that efforts are ongoing to identify the cause of the fire, and that he will comment on the matter once more information is received.

About 4,000 people live in Dhidhdhoo, where presently, there is a power outage every now and then following the fire.
