Construction work is under way for another café and a new building in City Park located behind the old power station, under the City Council’s Nala Fehi Male’ program.

Male’ City Council Member Ibrahim Sujau said yesterday that the newly-constructed building on the south eastern side of the narrow lane on the southern side of City Park will facilitate entry to the café from the street.

The new building on the south western side of the park will be used as a staff area for the group that will take over the management of the park, said Sujau.

He said that according to the agreement regarding the development and management of the park, 60 percent must be kept as park area, and only 40 percent can be utilised for land use.

Sujau said that the council had not received any information to indicate that the group to which the park has been leased is carrying out any activities in violation of the agreement.

Dinemore restaurant, which was previously located in Bodufenvalhuge, is now located in City Park.

A row of labour quarters including accommodation and toilets for the workers is also located in the park.
