Fire breaks out in house in Male

A fire has broken out in an office on the fourth floor of H. Lunchmeed located opposite Thalassaemia Centre on Majeedee Magu.

Spokesperson of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Major Hussain Ali told Sun Online today that the incident was reported at around 11:00 today, and that the fire has been controlled by the Fire and Rescue Service team.

He said that based on the information received so far, no one was hurt in the incident.

“It has not been possible to get more information yet due to the thick smoke. We haven’t received any information to indicate that anyone was or wasn’t inside,” he said.

He said that efforts are under way in cooperation with the police to determine the cause of the fire.
