Case regarding alcohol found in Muleeaage sent to PG for a second time

The police have submitted the case regarding finding alcohol in Muleeaage, the residence of former President Mohamed Nasheed, to the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office for a second time.

A police media official said that the case was forwarded to the PG Office after further completing the investigation, as requested by the PG Office.

The police first sent this case to the PG Office on 12 April, but the case was returned to the police after assessment by the PG Office, for further investigation on 31 December.

Some of the bottles of alcohol found at Muleeaage were packed in boxes which had tags with the Maldivian emblem on them, while some others were addressed to Nasheed as gifts from foreign groups.

Police said that the bottles were smuggled into Muleeaage in A4-sized envelopes, which had MNDF Special Protection Group Security Checked stamps on them.

Following these findings, Former President Nasheed said that he does not drink alcohol, and that there can be no such thing at Muleeaage.
