Young girl gang-raped in Milandhoo

A young girl has been raped by a group in Shaviyani Milandhoo.

The police said that two 21-year-olds, one 20-year-old, one 18-year old, and one 17-year-old have been arrested in relation to a case reported from Shaviyani Milandhoo last night.

The island council said that all the suspects are residents of Milandhoo.

President of Milandhoo Council Mohamed Yasir told Sun Online today that a girl below the age of 17 was raped by a group, while she was walking home from a house located on the southern end of the island.

Yasir said that according to the victim’s account of the incident, she was attacked by a group of men with covered faces, who took her to the beach on the northern side of the island and abused her sexually. He said that she mentioned the names of five of her attackers, and also said that about three more people were involved in the attack.

The men took photos and videos during the act, and threatened the girl by saying that the material will be leaked if she told anyone about the incident, said Yasir.

The girl was treated at the hospital for her injuries, but no details could be obtained in relation to this.
