MVR 229 million was collected yesterday alone: MIRA

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has said that it received MVR 229 million from various groups yesterday alone.

MIRA said in a press statement today that services were provided to 1,800 parties by midnight last night, and that based on the number of people who would require MIRA’s services yesterday, 20 additional temporary counters had been set up to ensure faster services.

MIRA said that yesterday was the deadline for making the payment and submitting the GST statement and for the second quarter of 2013 and for the month of June 2013.

The deadline for making the first interim payment of the year and submitting the interim statement is 31 July, said MIRA.

MIRA said that to avoid a fine, businesses should register with MIRA before today. The authority said that 150 registration forms were accepted yesterday alone.

The authority also said that over 15,000 parties have been registered with MIRA so far.
