Presidential candidate for the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Abdulla Yameen has described MP Shifaq Mufeed’s (Histo) departure from PPM as an irreparable loss for the party.
Answering a question by Sun following the drawing-of-lots for candidate numbers today, Abdulla Yameen said MP Shifaq brought a lot of energy to the party and that his departure is an irreparable loss, personally for himself and the party.
“Shifaq was active, sincere to the party and worked diligently for the election. He worked in our team without being weary and also worked hard for our party in parliament. It is an irreparable loss, even personally,” Yameen said.
Reflecting to the campaign, he said that he is confident of winning the elections through the first round of voting.
Fuvahmulah MP Shifaq Mufeed was elected to parliament in 2009 on a Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) ticket. He has recently announced that he will not stand for re-election.
