Man arrested in relation to Nizar

Police have arrested a man from Laamu Gan in relation to the murder of Ahmed Nizar.

Police said that a 21-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the murder, under a court warrant.

Ahmed Nizar, 31, from Woodland, Thundi, Laamu Gan, was found dead around 2:23 last night on a street in Laamu Gan.

Police have revealed that the assault took place in Gan Mukurumagu ward while four people, including Ahmed Nizar, were returning back to Gan after travelling by motorcycle to Laamu Kadhdhoo post office, where they had collected a certain package.

Police said that they suspect the assailants used wooden planks and iron rods to attack. The materials were discovered near the body, police said.

Gan Police Station has already commenced the preliminary investigations and a special investigation team from Male’ has departed to Laamu Gan, police said.
