Faafu Bilehdhoo Magistrate Court has ordered to halt all efforts to remove the items and workers used for the harbour construction project from the island.
Bilehdhoo Magistrate Court said that the island council had filed a case to the court regarding the harbour construction project, and thus ordered to halt all efforts to remove the items and workers used for the project from the island until the court makes a decision on this case.
The police media official said that following this order, the police have halted all efforts to remove the items and workers used for the harbour construction project from the island, and left the island.
A group of people in Bilehdhoo took to the streets and stopped the harbour construction project on the night of 3 July. They said that no efforts had been made to meet their request to extend the island’s channel by 20 feet.
