National airline, Maldivian, has decided to resume Male’-Colombo flights when it commences flights on the new route, Gan-Colombo.
Maldivian has announced that it would commence flights between Seenu Gan and Colombo from 7 August 2013, as well as resume weekly flights between Male’ and Colombo, every Monday.
Maldivian started selling Gan-Colombo tickets yesterday; one-way tickets cost $149, while return tickets cost $269.
Male’-Colombo one-way tickets cost $99, while return tickets cost $169.
Maldivian said that from 7 August, Male’-Gan-Colombo-Male’ flights would be conducted every Friday, and Male’-Colombo-Gan-Male’ flights would be conducted every Monday.
“We are starting with two weekly flights to Colombo. This would allow passengers to travel to Colombo on Friday and return to Male’ on Monday. And travel similarly from Gan,” said an official of Maldivian.
The flights to Colombo would be conducted on Maldivian’s newly acquired A320 aircraft, which have a capacity of 154 passengers.
