Ceremony for Bisam and Amal to take oath of office postponed

The ceremony for newly appointed Minister of Home Affairs Aishath Bisam and Minister of Gender, Family and Human Rights Aamal Ali to take their oath of office has been postponed.

The ceremony was earlier scheduled for 15:00 today at the President’s Office, but a government official has confirmed to Sun Online that the ceremony has now been moved to a later date.

Aishath Bisam was earlier appointed to the post of Attorney General, but this appointment was rejected by the parliament. The Ministry of Home Affairs has been without a permanent minister for over a month.

The position of Minister of Gender, Family and Human Rights became vacant following the same round of vote for consent, when Aishath Azima Shakoor was rejected by the parliament.
