Hotel Asia Exhibition kicks off with 150 stalls

Hotel Asia Exhibition and Culinary Challenge 2013 has begun with a total of 150 stalls.

Inaugurated by the Minister of Economic Development Ahmed Mohamed today, the exhibition will continue until the 5th of this month.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Economic Development Minister said that such exhibitions are an important contributor to economic development and urged more private sector participation in such exhibitions.

According to the organizers of the event, Maldives Exhibition and Conference Service, this year’s exhibition is participated by a total of 90 companies from 37 countries around the world, displaying their products in 150 different stalls.

“A number of world famous hospitality industry suppliers will participate in this exhibition,” Director of Maldives Exhibition and Conference Service Ahmed Ajmal said.

A total of 400 chefs from around the world is to compete in the largely popular annual culinary event this year, double the participation of 200 chefs seen last year. Five world acclaimed judges will evaluate the competition.

This year's exhibition marks the 10th year for the annual Hotel Asia Exhibition, an international platform for hoteliers and suppliers to come together and review industry standards.
