A Maldivian company has decided to build a $170 million (MVR 2.6 billion) luxury hotel in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan paper Lanka Business Online said that the hotel will be built by Eon Resorts Private Limited on Colombo's D R Wijewardene Mawatha, and that the joint proposal submitted in this regard had been approved by the cabinet of ministers.
The paper further said, “The project will be on land belonging to Cey-Nor Foundation, an enterprise coming under the fisheries ministry and state land on which an excise office is located at the moment.
“The project involves a 45-storey building with a 300 room hotel catering to leisure and business travellers and 100 luxury apartments.”
Eon says on their website that they manage the development of luxury resorts in the Maldives, working on behalf of owners and investors. Resorts in the Maldives developed by Eon include Jumeirah Dhevanafushi, Jumeirah Vittaveli, Six Senses Laamu, Viceroy Maldives, Constance Halaveli, The Island Hideaway and Soneva Gili.
