The provision of ferry services in Huvadhoo Atoll has been temporarily assigned to Kooddoo Fisheries Maldives.
The agreement in this regard was signed today at a ceremony held at Transport Ministry today, by Deputy Minister of Transport Mahdhy Imad and Director Finance and Accounts of Kooddoo Fisheries Mohamed Faiz.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mahdhy Imad said that the provision of ferry services in Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls had been assigned to Kooddoo Fisheries, and that the government would defray if the company is unable to cover the costs of providing this service. He said that the government would not provide any money to Kooddoo Fisheries to start this service.
Mohamed Faiz said that the ferry service will commence latest by Saturday with five ferries and with no change in the fare, MVR 25.
