Sheikh Fareed purchases company licensed to broadcast ITV

Sheikh Ibrahim Fareed has purchased a local company, Intone Media Private Limited, which owns a TV channel licensed to broadcast under the name ITV.

Speaking to Sun Online today, Sheikh Fareed said that efforts to commence broadcasting content is now underway.

“After purchasing the company, we’re trying to start the TV channel’s programs quite soon,” Sheikh Fareed.

He said that the channel’s content will be based on shaping the lives of the people within the boundaries of Islam.

He did not reveal the cost of the company.

A co-founder of the Islamic Foundation of the Maldives, Sheikh Fareed was accused of embezzling money from the foundation. The sheikh had in turn pressed defamation charges against the president of the foundation Ibrahim Fauzy, following public statements regarding the matter.
