It has been confirmed to Sun Online that the police earlier requested for a court order to arrest Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Member appointed by the President, Mohamed Saleem (Reynis Saleem).
Sun Online understands that the police requested the Criminal Court for an order to arrest Saleem, and this request was denied by the Criminal Court.
The Criminal Court’s decision was then appealed in High Court, and the High Court also supported the Criminal Court’s decision.
The police media official refused to comment on this matter.
Saleem was also summoned earlier in relation to a case under investigation by the police. During that inquiry, he was asked by the police if he had tried to collect some money owed to him by someone through a gang in Male’. Saleem denied this accusation and said that he had no links with gangs.
Saleem is a lawyer who often represents politicians in court.
