Indian government to assist in expansion and development of IGMH

Indian Ambassador to the Maldives Mr. Rajeev Shahare has said that the Indian government has decided to assist in the expansion and development of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The central hospital in the Maldives, IGMH was presented as a gift from the Indian government in 1995 and is dedicated to the former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Ambassador Shahare made his statements while speaking at an event in Trander’s Hotel yesterday, hosted jointly by the Global Hospitals Group and Azmee Naeem Medical and Diagnostic Centre (AMDC).

IGMH is a symbol of Indian generosity to the Maldives and the Indian government has decided to assist in the expansion and development of the hospital, Ambassador Rajeev Shahare said during the event.

He said that the Indian government will help install certain services in the hospital that it currently lacks, including treatments for heart diseases and help to better equip the hospital's laboratory.

A 15 story annex to IGMH is currently being built by the Maldives government.
