Ambassador of the United States accredited to the Maldives Michele J. Sison has assured the US would give its support and cooperation for the economic and political stability of the Maldives.
Ambassador Sison made her statement at a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik today. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
President Office revealed that discussions were held on the current political and economic state of the Maldives. They also discussed preparations for the upcoming presidential elections in the Maldives.
The President assured that the government would do everything possible to make the elections free and fair. He also stressed the importance of having international elections observers in the country.
Ambassador Sison said the US would give its support and cooperation for the economic and political stability of the Maldives.
Including today’s courtesy call by Ambassador of the United States accredited to the Maldives Michele J. Sison, the Ambassador has called on the President on three different occasions within the past 6 months, one in December last year and another in January, early this year.
