High Court cancels hearing for Hulhumale

The High Court has cancelled the hearing scheduled for today regarding the case filed by former president Mohamed Nasheed contesting that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) acted against the law when constituting the Hulhumale' Court bench of judges to preside over the illegal detention of Criminal Court judge Abdulla Mohamed early last year.

Media Official for the High Court Ameen Faisal confirmed to Sun today that hearing was cancelled, although he did not state the reason for the cancellation.

Scheduled for 14:15, today’s hearing was to decide on the procedural issues brought up by the JSC.

Hassan Latheef, one of the lawyers in former president Nasheed’s legal team said that the court has informed them that the hearing was cancelled because one of the judges had taken leave today.

JSC has asked the court to expedite the case.
