The fifth meeting of the Scaling-up Renewable Energy in low-income countries (SREP) has commenced at Bandos Island Resort today.
The meeting was opened by Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Ahmed Shafeeu and Program Manager of the Climate Investment Fund (CIF) Administrative Unit Patricia Bliss-Guest.
The six countries selected for the program are Ethiopia, Honduras, Kenya, Maldives, Mali and Nepal.
The SREP is one of the largest dedicated sources of financing under Climate Investment Funds for renewable energy for participating countries. To date, four SREP projects have been approved by the sub-committee for a total of $46 million.
This includes the renewable energy projects to be undertaken in Maldives and Nepal.
