Three cars parked on the streets of the capital Male’ were robbed last night, after the robbers shattered their windows.
One of the cars, a taxi with the license plate number 3681, was robbed while parked near former Arabiyya School. The compartments in the car were tampered after shattering the passenger seat window.
A car with the license plate number 4197 parked near Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) was also damaged, as the robbers had shattered the passenger seat window, and the materials inside the car’s glove compartment strewn inside the car.
A taxi with the license plate number 4538 parked near Star Cinema in Maafannu was also robbed last night, after shattering the passenger seat window.
The goods stolen are yet unclear as the owners of the car have not unavailable.
Some of the taxi drivers that spoke to Sun today said that car robberies by shattering their windows have recently become quite common. They said that about three to four cars a night are subjected to such robberies each night, and that they now take their valuables, such as communication sets in cars, back to their homes after they finish their shifts.
Police have not been available to comment regarding the matter.
