Break time for civil servants extended to one full hour

President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has extended the break time for civil servants from 30 minutes per day to 10 full hour, starting from today.

President’s Office revealed said today the President’s decision followed discussions within the cabinet, with regard to the concerns raised by the civil servants who had noted that the 30-minute break time was not an appropriate duration.

The President has now communicated to the offices, to ask them to facilitate a one hour break from 12:00 to 13:00 or from 13:00 to 14:00 for their employees, in such a way that it would not disrupt services to the public.

President Dr. Mohamed Waheed met with the civil servants last night, in celebration of this year’s Labour Day. During the event, the President advised all employees to utilize their time wisely, to refrain from going out of the office at times other than the stipulated breaks, and to be mindful of their attendance.
