Hinnavaru arson suspect acquitted

The Criminal Court has acquitted Nihad Mohamed of Lucky, Lhaviyani Hinnavaru, who was charged with terrorism by the State following an arson attack on Bijileege, Lhaviyani Hinnavaru.

Bijileege in Hinnavaru was set on fire on at around 23:30 on 31 August 2011. No one was in the house at the time of the attack.

The Criminal Court said in its ruling that the evidence presented by the State against Nihad, including witness statements, were not sufficient to prove that Nihad is guilty of terrorism as charged by the State.
