Umar Naseer has filed a case in Civil Court asking the court to declare his dismissal from the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) as against laws and regulations.
The party’s former deputy leader was handed the official notice of dismissal yesterday.
PPM Council Member and Umar Naseer’s former campaign manager Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem) said that Umar received the notice at 14:00 yesterday.
The chairman of the party’s Behavioural Committee Abdul Azeez Jamaal Aboobakuru said that the party’s regulation allows Umar a 14 day period to appeal the decision to the party’s Appeal Committee.
Umar Naseer was dismissed from PPM after he refused to apologise for accusing his opponent of underhandedly manipulating the results the party’s presidential primary, statements he had made during an event following his defeat at the primary.
