A protest has been held outside the residence of Head of Maleesh Hajj Group Ismail Abdul Latheef tonight.
The group of people, who have accused Maleesha Hajj Group of swindling them out of a large amount of money, gathered at the same location last night as well.
The protesters tried to break in to M. Meadows, but were unsuccessful as the door was locked.
Sun Online understands that Ismail Abdul Latheef is currently under house arrest in M. Meadows.
The protest began at around 9:00 pm tonight. The protesters called to bring Ismail Abdul Latheef to justice and to return their money.
A protester told Sun Online that he had saved up for several years to be able to pay the sum to go to Hajj, and that their plan was to protest outside Ismail Abdul Latheef’s residence every night.
Protesters said that they will meet with officials of the Islamic Ministry and Prosecutor General’s Office tomorrow.
No confrontations took place during the protest outside M. Meadows.
Maleesha Hajj Group is said to have swindled a group of people out of MVR 11.9 million.
The case against Ismail Abdul Latheef has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office by the police. The trial has not commenced yet.
