Secretary General of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Yumna Maumoon has tendered her resignation from the post.
A press statement released by Yumna today stated that she has written to the party’s President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and the party's council, expressing her wish to resign from her post as the party’s Secretary General, effective of the 30th of this month.
She has decided to resign in order to spend more time with her family as this her eldest child sits in the GCE O’Level exams this year, the statement read.
Yumna also stated that the a party’s Secretary General would play a key role in winning the upcoming presidential election and that she does not believe that she can effectively deliver to the demands of the job, given the current circumstances of her personal life.
