Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has revealed that four of the party’s members have expressed their interests to compete for the three vacant deputy leader posts during the party’s upcoming congress.
DRP spokesperson Zeena Zahir said today that the four members who have already submitted their application for the posts include; DRP parliamentary group member and Thulusdhoo MP Rozaina Adam, Henveyru-central MP Ali Azim, current Minister of Economic Development Ahmed Mohamed, and Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Ali Solih.
Zeena said that the deadline for applications will expire tomorrow and that members will be elected during the party’s congress scheduled for the 23rd to 25th of this month.
In addition to the three deputy leader seats, the congress will see elections for president and vice president of the youth wing, president and vice president of the women’s wing, an additional member for the party’s behavioural committee, and six members to the party’s general council.
DRP estimates that 900 to 1000 representative from around the country will participate in the congress. Amendments proposed to the party’s regulation will also be asked for vote during the party's congress.
