Refrain from emotional judgment when casting vote, appeals Gasim

Presidential candidate and leader of Jumhoory Party Gasim Ibrahim has called on the people to refrain from emotional judgment when casting their vote in the upcoming presidential election.

Speaking at a campaign event in Shaviyani Funadhoo last night, Gasim said that refraining from emotional judgment will be the only way bring about the change that the people want to see.

Gasim said that the vote is not deserved through close relationships, but must rather be given to the most substantial and credible candidate.

Regardless of the post, a person elected to office must understand the sentiments of the people, said Gasim, and said the people to reflect on past experiences to refrain from making the same mistakes again, which he said must be achieved by voting for a candidate that is willing to resolve the pains and troubles of the citizens.

Gasim said that he will work for the development of the women’s development committees, and said that these committee will have influence in a Jumhoory Party’s government.

“We need to express these things, break the shell and show them. Our men and women must go forth, in a spirit of working together. I would like to say that in our government, we will give as much cooperation as we possibly can, to the work of the women development committee,” Gasim said.

He said that a Jumhoory party government will solidify decentralized governance, and pledged to allow all the powers to the councils that they deserve, which the past governments he says, have been reluctant to hand over.

Two members from the Shaviyani Fundhoo Council and some of the locals signed up for Jumhoory Party during last night’s event.
