Maumoon calls to join PPM to preserve religion in the Maldives

President of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has called on the people to join PPM if they wish to preserve Islam in the Maldives.

Speaking at a PPM campaign rally in Fuvahmulah last night, Maummon said that he continuously hear about different parties forming alliances and coalitions and that he bids all those parties who wish to see democracy and sovereignty prevail in the country to join his party.

“When they talk, some people keep talking about parties forming coalitions, that they are forming alliances with others. What I want to say is, if any of you want a perfect democracy, if any of you want Islam be sustained in the Maldives, if any of you want the Maldivian sovereignty to be protected, I would like to ask that person to quickly join PPM,” Maumoon said.

Maumoon said that Maldives is being stripped of its peace and prosperity, and that if its people want their country to be a peaceful and prosperous nation, and if the people want their rights fully protected, they should join his party as soon as possible.

He said that the PPM will always be open for those who wish to see a government that prioritizes the benefits of the people.
