Guraidhoo MP Ibrahim Riza, who has been an independent member in the parliament until now, has joined Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
Riza said that he joined PPM because the majority of his constituency supports PPM, and that he would contest in the next parliamentary elections as a member of PPM.
“The people in my constituency have always supported that ideology. They used to support DRP, now they support PPM. I joined PPM because the majority of my constituency supports PPM. I don’t want to have a big ceremony when I sign to join PPM,” he said.
The number of PPM Parliamentary Group members has reached 20 including Riza.
Meanwhile, member of People’s Alliance, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ahmed Nazim has also mentioned to the media that he plans to join PPM. It has not yet been confirmed if he has already joined PPM.
