Armenia’s Artur brothers, who are suspected of being involved in drug trafficking and other illegal activities in cooperation with politicians around the world, are currently in the Maldives.
The purpose of their visit to the Maldives is yet unknown; however, they are suspected of working with some senior officials of the government.
The brothers were involved in a drug trafficking scandal in Kenya, and were deported from Kenya after the story was reported by the media.
Kenyan papers reported in 2006 that they worked with police officers in the country to save a massive cocaine shipment that had been seized, and to protect several corrupt activities of the government from being exposed.
Their dealings were exposed after the office of Kenyan media group Standard Group was raided.
Whistleblower WikiLeaks also mentioned that the U.S. Envoy in Kenya at the time notified the U.S. government of the Artur brothers’ activities in collaboration with senior officials of the Kenyan government.
According to WikiLeaks, one of the brothers was given the post of Assistant Commissioner of Police by the Kenyan government.
