Nazim says he will not allow dragging MPs by force

Deputy Speaker of the parliament Hon. Ahmed Nazim said that the speaker of the parliament Hon. Abdulla Shahid and he himself will not allow the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) to enter the parliament hall to drag MPs out of meetings.

Today MPs expressed their concern over the discussion between the MNDF staff and the party leaders. Some MPs were concerned about the legitimacy of MNDF entering parliament hall to drag MPs. Hon. Ali Arif of Vaikaradhoo constituency, Hon. Riyaz Rasheed of Vilufushi constituency and Hon. Ilham Ahmed of Gemanafushi constituency were among the members who expressed such concerns.

The parliament meeting today was adjourned when Hon. Ali Arif of Vaikaradhoo constituency stood in front of the secretariat and denied to leave the floor when his name was called.
