MDP has said that it is high time they took to the streets to call for the reform of the country’s legal and judicial systems.
Speaking at a meeting held last night under the “You cannot say that” theme, party leaders said that it is no longer enough to hold meetings at the main hall every night.
Thoddoo MP Ali Waheed said that from next week onwards, MDP members should also gather near MMA every night. He also called to put an end to protests by opposition groups.
Hoarafushi MP Ahmed Rasheed said that people need to arrive in Male’ from various parts of Maldives to call for the independence of the legal and judicial systems.
“I will bring in 50% of eligible voters of Hoarafushi to Male’. It is high time we took to the streets to call for the reform of the courts,” Ahmed Rasheed said.
MDP Parliamentary group members and several Ministers also supported the idea of MDP holding a mass protest, and said that MDP members all over the country are keenly waiting for such a movement.
The party is already planning to hold a mass gathering next month. They have also gathered near Supreme Court on several occasions and called for an independent judicial system.
